The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday opened the Delhi Ridge Interpretation Centre (DRIC) at Patel Chowk Metro Station to showcase the ecological significance of the Delhi Ridge and raise public awareness about its conservation.Often referred to as the city’s “green lungs”, the Delhi Ridge plays a crucial role in maintaining Delhi’s environmental balance. The centre highlights its unique ecological features, biodiversity and historical relevance.The facility has been set up in compliance with directions of the Supreme Court, following recommendations of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It was inaugurated by CEC chairman Chandra Prakash Goyal.“The centre will serve as an important landmark for those interested in the history and heritage of the Ridge. It is a significant step towards generating awareness about conserving this fragile ecosystem,” Mr. Goyal said, adding that more developments related to the Ridge will be incorporated into the centre.The centre will remain open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and will be closed on Mondays and public holidays.
