The Forest Department has installed camera traps near Moonukuttai village in the Periyanaickenpalayam forest range after a 62-year-old man was killed in the attack by a carnivore, suspected to be a tiger, on June 27.Officials said that cameras were fixed at the location on Monday and there was no movement of any carnivore thereafter. Velliangiri, a resident of Moonukuttai, was found dead in the forest on Sunday. He had gone to the forest to collect fodder for goats on Saturday and did not return to the village. His body was found partially eaten by a carnivore on Sunday.Meanwhile, the Forest Department advised residents of Moonukuttai to be cautious while going to forest to collect fodder and minor forest produces.The Department handed over ₹50,000 as immediate assistance to the family of the deceased.
