Christ Makosso is on the move. The 22-year-old Congolese defender, who spent last season establishing himself at Luton Town, has secured a loan move to Oxford United, effective from January 31, 2026.

Makosso joined Luton in January 2025, arriving from Belgian side RWDM. He made approximately 28 appearances for the club and picked up Luton’s Young Player of the Year award along the way. The loan to Oxford United includes an option for the club to purchase Makosso permanently at the end of the season.

From Belgium to England to the next destination

Born on May 9, 2004, in Congo, Makosso began his career in the French youth leagues before moving to Belgium’s RWDM in the Challenger Pro League. His time at Luton came after the club identified him as a promising talent in January 2025, where he made notable contributions despite the team’s later relegation.

Makosso has also earned caps for the Congo national team, adding an international dimension to his profile.
