But travellers without Android phones will have to wait.

Slovakia launches a pilot version of its National Integrated Ticket on 1 July, a system enabling passengers to purchase a single ticket for journeys involving multiple public transport operators.

The system, which will fully operate in September, connects 39 state-supported transport providers, enabling travellers to plan and pay for journeys across local buses, trains, and urban transport through a single mobile application called Cyril, according to Slovak media reports.

Instead of purchasing separate tickets for each leg of a journey, users enter their origin and destination in the app, which generates a single ticket covering the entire route. Fares remain unchanged, but the system aims to simplify ticket purchases and automatically select the most suitable connection.

The pilot launch comes with limitations. The app is initially available only for Android devices, while an iPhone version is expected later this summer. Tickets cannot be purchased through a web browser or printed on paper, meaning passengers need both a smartphone and internet access.
