I served in the Army - we're scarily vulnerable to Putin

I was just a working-class kid from Cheshire when I first joined the British Army. Over the next two decades, I served in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan, losing close friends along the way. A part of me will always remain on those battlefields.

After leaving the army, I dedicated my career to operating in some of the world’s most dangerous environments. I protected journalists in Ukraine, Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. I helped humanitarian efforts, delivering food and supporting families left devastated by war across the globe. I have seen the worst of humanity.

All of this gives me a unique perspective on the devastating impact of conflict from all sides.
