Epitome Skateboards and Johnos Skate Shop announced Jean-Marc Johannes as their newest professional skateboarder on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The 35-year-old athlete, born and raised in Athlone, Cape Town, enters the professional ranks following his debut at the Malaysian DBKU X Games, where he secured a fourth-place finish. With his eyes now set on the streets of Barcelona in his upcoming tour, he is poised to make a mark.
Having entered competitive skateboarding at just 11 years old, Johannes now stands as South Africa's first ten-time international medallist on the World Series circuit. He is the first South African to hold gold, silver, and bronze medals from these events.
In 2024, he became the first African skateboarder inducted into the Guinness World Records book, having broken five world records in 2023 alone. To compete and maintain consistency at an international level, Johannes has developed a calculated training approach he calls "the mastery of patience."
