Changes coming into force on Canada Day could save Ontarians a small amount of money upfront on their auto insurance premiums, but could leave drivers in the lurch if they get into a collision, critics say.

“No one plans on having a car accident,” said NDP auto insurance critic Tom Rakocevic. “These very small savings, if there are any, will result in a situation when the time comes, and you need support and coverage, it just simply won’t be there.”
