The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has suspended its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Onke Dumeko, with immediate effect, placing South Africa’s primary film and video funding agency under interim leadership while an independent administrative review is completed.
The precautionary suspension, which took effect on 25 June 2026, was confirmed in an internal circular signed by NFVF Council Chairperson Leon van Nierop.
The Council said the measure was intended to protect the integrity of the review process and should not be interpreted as a finding of wrongdoing.
“A precautionary suspension is a standard governance procedure intended to ensure an unhindered process and does not represent a disciplinary finding or any prejudgment of the matter,” the circular said.
