ActionSA is calling on the government to match the R600 million set aside for security on June 30 for service delivery
As South Africa braces for nationwide anti-immigration protests on Tuesday, ActionSA has intensified its criticism of the Government of National Unity (GNU), accusing it of spending hundreds of millions of rand to police public demonstrations while failing to invest adequately in enforcing the country's immigration laws.
ActionSA president Herman Mashaba said the government should devote the same urgency and resources to securing South Africa's borders as it has to preparing for possible unrest.
"The GNU must finally take its constitutional responsibility to act against illegal immigration seriously, instead of focusing disproportionately on policing the frustration of South Africans who feel forced to protest due to continued inaction," Mashaba said.
His remarks come ahead of a national mobilisation organised by the anti-immigration movement March and March, founded by former Vuma FM presenter Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma. The group has declared June 30, 2026 as the deadline for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa, warning of a nationwide shutdown if its demands are not met.
