PAGADIAN CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, Philippines — The grieving family of an Army corporal killed in an ambush in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, on Saturday has appealed to the government to bring those responsible to justice.
Cpl. Jayson Castro, a native of Barangay Diplo in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, was assigned to the 64th Infantry Battalion based in Bayang, Lanao del Sur.
Castro was killed on Saturday afternoon when at least 10 still-unidentified armed men ambushed his unit in Barangay Lamin, Malabang.
