During the first half of 2026, the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine's Central District estimated environmental damage caused by Russian aggression in the Poltava region at more than UAH 2.59 billion.

The Inspectorate announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

According to the agency, since the beginning of the year, its specialists have completed 40 assessments of environmental damage resulting from Russian strikes on industrial facilities.

The total estimated losses amount to UAH 2,590,305,903.

The damage includes uncontrolled emissions of air pollutants released during fires, as well as land contamination and soil pollution.
