Top Boy star Micheal Ward raped a woman in the back of a Mercedes after meeting her a fancy dress party, a court has been told.The 28-year-old Bafta-winning actor is alleged to have repeatedly assaulted the woman in his friend's car after hosting the event on New Year's Day 2023, but she was initially too intimidated to make a report to police.nJamaican-born Ward, of Silvertown, London, denies two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against the woman in Newham, east London.Jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court were told Ward met the young woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at an 'all white' party at the Infinity Lounge in Gant's Hill.'Micheal Ward was unknown personally to her at the time. She knew him to be an actor and had seen him on TV and in films. She knew it was his party,' prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC said.'They met for the first time outside the party and he asked for her Snapchat handle which she gave to him. She accepts in her interview that she was flattered that he had asked for her details.'During the course of the evening, she said that she had seen him intermittently; at one point he touched her bottom as he walked past her. 'He asked her if the three friends were doing anything after the event and invited her to an afterparty.' The drama explores the world of drug dealers in Hackney, east LondonAfter the party, jurors heard, Ward is alleged to have tried to kiss the woman before performing a sex act upon her in the back of a friend's car, which she consented to.They then went to an afterparty in Stratford where, the prosecutor said, the alleged victim got a 'weird vibe' and decided she and her friends would leave.She then met Ward outside, who asked her to walk up to a car parked further up the road so they could talk again.Ms Ayling continued: 'She said she was given specific instructions to walk behind him, and not to talk to anyone en route.'Mr Ward then invited her to climb into the back seat with him claiming that he just wanted to kiss her a bit more.'After she suggested they sit in the front, Ward became 'quite impatient' and told her to 'stop wasting time', the prosecutor said.She added: 'She said that she felt a bit pressured, but she did what he asked.' Ward is then alleged to have began kissing her, and touched her intimately.'She told him that she was not comfortable doing what they were doing in public but that he did not immediately stop what he was doing and continued to kiss her,' Ms Ayling said.'She told him this was not a situation that she wanted to be in. He... begged her to stay longer, inquiring whether her friends could drive to his house and wait for her outside. 'Feeling uncomfortable by this point, the woman said that she opened the car door, but he quite sternly told her to close it.'He asked her if she could just let him "do it quickly", and he seemed to be trying to get her into a certain position whilst trying to pull her trousers down.'She said that she was turned around so that at this stage she was now facing the car door.' Ward later appeared opposite Olivia Colman in Sam Mendes' 2022 drama Empire of Light Ward (seen arriving at a previous hearing) has denied charges of rape and sexual assaultWard then pulled down her clothing before raping her and orally raping her, the court heard, allegedly using vulgar language to demand that she perform a sex act on him.As the woman dressed herself Ward started talking 'as though nothing had happened', Ms Ayling said, adding: 'He mentioned how busy he was at the moment and made her promise to come back and see him the next day.'As she walked back to her friend's car, Ward messaged the woman a 'teary-eyed emoji and a heart emoji', it was heard. She is said to have replied by telling him to 'enjoy the rest of his evening'.On the way home, she experienced 'stinging pain' and ordered an STI kit, ticking a box on a form asking if she had been sexually assaulted.The woman told police she initially did not feel confident enough to make a complaint to the police initially.'Asked why she did not make an immediate report to the police, the woman said that she didn't really understand what had happened, and because of who he is, she didn't feel she could speak out,' said the prosecutor.'She also blamed herself for putting herself in that position.'She said Ward contacted her after the alleged attack, and that she replied to some of his messages.Asked by police why she did replied the complainant said: 'I think I just didn't really feel like I had an explanation as to why I replied.'And I think even now when I think about it, I don't know really why I replied. I think at that time I just wanted to be able to forget about it and try and move on.'Ward was arrested on January 18 2023 and told police in a prepared statement: 'I deny the allegation of rape. I want to put on record that we had consensual foreplay and consensual sex.' He was later charged on July 25 2025.The trial, before Judge Rosa Dean, continues. Who is Micheal Ward? Micheal Ward made his name as one of the cult hit Blue Story in 2019, based on a real life gang war in South London.The same year, he appeared in the Netflix revival of Channel 4 series Top Boy, which revolves around drug dealers in Hackney in the east of the Capital. His first on-screen appearance was in the 2016 film Brotherhood.
