Brad Penner / Imagn ImagesJune 29, 2026 9:04 pm EDT Updated New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. collided with right fielder Jasson Domínguez — seemingly taking an elbow to the head — and was on the ground in the outfield for a while before immediately leaving Monday night’s series opener against the Detroit Tigers in the fourth inning.The Yankees have not announced Chisholm’s injury. In his place, Oswaldo Cabrera took over for at second base.As Chisholm was on the ground in shallow right field, a Yankees trainer appeared to be checking his neck and head. He laid on his back for several minutes with manager Aaron Boone also standing nearby. Chisholm eventually walked to the dugout without aid.Domínguez made the catch, though the Yankees were trailing 7-0 at the time of the apparent injury.

Domínguez never appeared to demonstratively call for the ball, though he may have shouted toward Chisholm, who was running with his back to the infield.
