Julian Nagelsmann isn’t going anywhere. The Germany national team head coach has stated plainly that he will not resign from his position and intends to remain in charge through 2028, as long as the German Football Association (DFB) wants him there.
The contract trail tells the story
He was appointed in September 2023 as a replacement for Hansi Flick, initially signing a contract that ran through Euro 2024. In April 2024, the DFB extended his deal to cover the 2026 FIFA World Cup cycle. A second extension materialized in January 2025, pushing his contract all the way through Euro 2028.
As of late June 2026, Nagelsmann continues to lead Germany’s preparations for upcoming competitions.
