Ekiti State Government has approved the reuse of books by younger siblings, provided the books remain in good condition, as part of efforts to ease the burden on parents.

The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Education, Mr Bayode Ogunmola, said that the policy on book review remained unchanged.

Ogunmola said in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday, “The government has approved the reuse of textbooks by younger siblings, provided the books remain in good condition, as part of efforts to make education more affordable for families across the state”.

According to him, under the book review, primary school textbooks are to be reviewed once every six years, while the review cycle for secondary school textbooks has been extended from once every three years to once every four years, subject to the guidelines of the National Educational Research and Development Council.

“The policy, which took effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, was introduced to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians and curb the social pressure and excesses often associated with such ceremonies,” he said.
