Refrigeration Technologies Takes on the HVACR Industry’s Most Expensive ‘Minor’ Problem With Launch of Viper EZDose
New “install-and-maintain” solutions takes on the slime, sludge and Zooglea buildup that sends technicians back to the same units, and sends water damage claims through the roof
Refrigeration Technologies, the Southern California-based manufacturer behind the Viper® line of non-toxic HVACR chemical solutions, today announced the launch of Viper EZDose™, a gravity-fed pan and drain line maintenance system designed to help HVAC contractors prevent condensate drain clogs before they become water damage, odor complaints and costly callbacks.
"EZDose came out of a simple frustration — the same problem kept showing up on the same units, and the existing solutions weren't solving it," said Robert Kraft, inventor of EZDose and a 36-year HVAC industry veteran whose field-born innovation came to life through Refrigeration Technologies' outside inventor program. "Tablets and strips sit in one spot. They don't get to the whole pan, and they don't protect the drain line. We built EZDose to actually do the job properly."
Clogged condensate drain lines account for up to 90% of water-related AC service calls, according to HVAC industry data; and most of them are preventable. A typical residential HVAC system can pull up to 20 gallons of water per day from the air. When that water has nowhere to go, water backs up, pans overflow and damage to ceilings, walls and floors follows.
