South Africa - Pretoria- Madlanga Nku - 29 June 2026 Businessman and alleged police source, Tumelo Nku, has resumed his testimony at the Madlanga Commission.
Suspected drug trafficker, Tumelo Nku, has alleged that the late former deputy defence minister Kebby Maphatsoe introduced him to an alleged drug trafficker who wanted to use a massive police cocaine bust to destroy a criminal rival.
Testifying at the Madlanga Commission on Monday, Nku claimed that Maphatsoe recruited him into an operation aimed at ensuring a drug shipment worth about R300 million was intercepted before it reached a competing trafficking syndicate.
The allegations place the late former ANC MP at the centre of claims that political connections were used to facilitate contact with an alleged underworld figure seeking to cripple a rival's drug network.
Nku told the commission that Maphatsoe introduced him to a man known as "Eby" in January 2021.
