Kariyapatti police have booked few youth on charges of kidnapping another youth from Ramanathapuram and releasing him after taking a ransom of ₹5 lakh.The police said that one Sameer Ahmed Raja, 21, of Sathirakudi in Ramanathapuram district had gone missing on June 23 when he came to Kariyapatti. Sathirakudi police had registered a case of man missing on the next day.However, later Raja was traced at the Government Hospital in Ramanathapuram.During enquiry, he had complained that few of his friends had kidnapped him when he had come to a college in Kariyapatti following some dispute.After taking him in a car, they had demanded money from his parents for his safe return.
