The Akwa Ibom Police Command says it has apprehended an armed robbery suspect within the Uyo Metropolis and recovered a locally fabricated firearm in the process.
The Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, made the disclosure in a statement in Uyo on Monday
John said the suspect was apprehended during a stop-and-search operation around the Mayflower axis on Oron Road, Uyo.
She said that the command received a distress call at about 10.30p.m on June 27 from a resident of Ikot Okubo, reporting suspected armed robbers’ activities.
The police image maker said that personnel from the command promptly mobilised to cordon off and ‘comb’ the affected area.
