BBC Wimbledon viewers took to social media to share their concerns after spotting his gory injury16:08, 29 Jun 2026Updated 16:13, 29 Jun 2026Wimbledon viewers have shared their concerns after spotting a gruesome injury. It’s already been a dramatic tennis season, with Jack Draper and Emma Radacanu both pulling out due to injuries, hours before they were set to play. The first day, taking place on Monday, June 29, will see Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic take to the court, while Men’s champion Jannik Sinner is up against Miomir Kecmanović on Centre Court.During the third set of his first-round match, Sinner took a nasty fall, as his footing went and he dropped to a split-leg position, hitting the deck.Providing commentary on the BBC, Andrew Castle said: "He looks like he's definitely going to need the trainer. We hope it's not as bad as it looked."However, the Italian world number one returned onto his feet and appeared to shake off the injury, though fans have shared their worries after noticing what appears to be blood on his shoe. One took to X to write: “Lawd that's a lot of blood coming from Sinner's sock and shoe.”Another said: “MY GOD SINNER. I KNOW YOU ARE STRONG BUT THE BLOOD IS COMING OUT.”Someone else wrote: “Seems like the fall Jannik Sinner took early really caused an injury, looks like a lot of blood on his shoe.”“Dawg is that blood on Jannik Sinner’s shoes?” someone else said, while another wrote: “It doesn’t look like a spill pattern, that’s almost certainly blood oh my god.”Yet another said: “Is Jannik Sinner bleeding through his shoe? Or is there some other way it turned red?”Someone else added: “That red stain coming out of the shoe doesn’t look like strawberries to me…”As Sinner continued playing, the BBC commentators discussed whether it was blood in Sinner's shoes or something like "ointment"."That looks horrible," they said, adding: "It's getting worse as well."And it doesn't look like its affecting his movement, he's been charging around the court as we saw at the end of that third set tie-break but it is very bizarre to have something like that coming through the shoe."Following Sinner’s win in 2025, his first Wimbledon title, he told the BBC: “Only me and the people who are close to me know exactly what we have been through on and off the court, and it has been everything except easy.”He went on: "[It is] very emotional, even if I don't cry."To share this moment with my whole family here, it's the most amazing thing that could have happened to me."Article continues belowWimbledon is airing on BBC One, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
