Rescue teams on Monday (June 29) recovered the body of Shibil Rehman, a tourist guide who went missing in the Pathankayam river near Kodenchery in Kozhikode district on Saturday (June 27).Mr. Rehman, 25, is a native of Kizhissery in Malappuram district. According to sources, the incident had occurred in the evening when members of the 11-member tourist team from Bengaluru, Karnataka, entered the river for a bath. Though the sky was clear when they ventured into the river, the water level rose suddenly following heavy rainfall in the upstream catchment areas, triggering a flash flood. The tourists were caught unawares by the development. Two persons were pulled out of the river and brought to safety after residents and Fire and Rescue Services personnel launched a rescue operation. However, Mr. Rehman went missing.
