The evacuees are expected to be flown back to Nigeria aboard an Air Peace aircraft in another phase of the ongoing humanitarian operation coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Nigerian government has announced that at least 271 Nigerian nationals in South Africa will be repatriated on Tuesday, as it continues its voluntary repatriation programme for citizens seeking to return home following the persisting wave of anti-immigration tensions and xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The evacuees are expected to be flown back to Nigeria aboard an Air Peace aircraft in another phase of the ongoing humanitarian operation coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the aircraft will depart Nigeria at 3:00 p.m. on Monday and is scheduled to arrive in South Africa at about 9:00 p.m. local time.
The return flight is expected to commence at midnight, with the flight arriving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday morning, carrying the 271 returnees.
