The removal of Abdullateef comes weeks after he openly criticised alleged moves to position Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Salihu Yakubu Danladi as Governor AbdulRazaq's preferred successor.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has removed his Principal Private Secretary (PPS), Mr. Oloyin Abdullateef, from office following a controversial public statement in which the former aide warned against an attempt to impose a political successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The sacking formed part of a minor cabinet reshuffle approved by the governor and announced in an official statement issued by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood AbdulRafiu Agboola.
According to the statement, the reshuffle affected all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, the Deputy Chief of Staff, and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.
Although the government described the exercise as a routine political reorganisation aimed at creating room for more members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to participate in governance, political observers in the state linked the removal of Abdullateef to his recent criticism of alleged succession plans within the AbdulRazaq political camp.
