Self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in China for an official visit and met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This was reported by Lukashenko’s press service, according to Ukrinform citing Zerkalo.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping said that “the current China–Belarus relations are experiencing a historical peak.”
“I greatly appreciate your positive assessment of our relations. This is what we discussed and, in a way, what we even dreamed of ahead of this global cooperation between Belarus and the People’s Republic of China,” Lukashenko said.
After the working meeting, the leaders are expected to continue their talks over lunch. According to Lukashenko’s press service, this format “goes far beyond diplomatic protocol and is a sign of special personal trust” between the Belarusian leader and the Chinese President.
