Russia claims capture of two villages in eastern UkraineRussia's defence ministry said on Sunday that its forces had captured the villages of Pysantsi in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region and Novoselivka in the neighbouring Zaporizhzhia region, according to state news agency TASS.The announcement follows Russia's claim on Wednesday that its troops had taken control of the villages of Hraniv in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region and Vozdvyzhivka in the contested southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, as cited by Reuters. The reported advance comes as fighting continues across multiple fronts.Ukrainian drones struck multiple Russian targets overnight, including an oil refinery in the southern Krasnodar region, according to local authorities. In a statement on Telegram on Sunday, Krasnodar governor Veniamin Kondratiev said a fire broke out at the refinery in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, killing one person and injuring another in a nearby village, as cited by Reuters. The privately owned Slavyansk refinery has a processing capacity of about 100,000 barrels per day and supplies fuel for both domestic use and export.Elsewhere, the governor of Russia's Yaroslavl region, east of Moscow, said the area had also come under a drone attack, prompting temporary restrictions on movement along some road routes leading to the Russian capital.Russia, which controls around 20 per cent of Ukraine's territory, has been waging a prolonged campaign to seize full control of the eastern Donetsk region, regularly announcing the capture of villages as it presses its offensive. However, Ukraine's military has said in recent weeks that the pace of Russian advances has slowed, adding that its forces are in their strongest position in months.
