According to the police, preliminary investigations showed that the attack occurred on June 18 at Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School in Ugbamaka, Okpo District.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 30-year-old female teacher, Maryam Usman, who reportedly died days after she was assaulted by the parent of a pupil she had disciplined at a private school in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.
The command said it has launched an investigation into the incident, which has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over the safety of teachers carrying out their duties in schools.
The state police command's spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, who confirmed the unfortunate incident to SaharaReporters on Sunday, disclosed that the case of culpable homicide was reported at the Olamaboro Divisional Headquarters on June 25, 2026, following the victim's death.
