Before you queue up at your bank branch this week, it might be worth checking if it's actually open. Banks in several states will observe holidays during the week starting June 29, with closures differing across regions due to local festivals and state-specific observances.As per the June 2026 holiday calendar, some states will see bank closures on June 29 and June 30, while branches in the rest of the country will continue normal operations.Where will banks remain closed this week?On June 29, banks in Himachal Pradesh will remain closed in observance of Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti. This will be followed by another regional shutdown on June 30, when banking operations in Mizoram will remain suspended on account of Remna Ni. Earlier in the month, several states had already witnessed similar closures based on their respective observances. Banks remained shut on June 15 for YMA Day/Raja Sankranti, on June 22 for Rev Thomas Jones, and on June 26 for Muharram (Yaom-E-Shahadath)/Last Day of Moharam/Ashoora, with applicability varying from state to state depending on local holiday notifications.In addition to these state-specific holidays, banking services across India also follow standard weekly closures on the second and fourth Saturdays, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s guidelines, along with regular Sunday shutdowns.What about banking operationsThe holiday calendar continues to differ widely across states and union territories, with each region following its own list of notified festivals and observances. As a result, banking operations remain uneven across the country during such periods, depending on local requirements and declarations.While physical bank branches will remain closed in affected regions on designated holidays, customers will still be able to access essential financial services through digital channels. Internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATM networks and UPI platforms will continue to function, allowing users to carry out transactions such as fund transfers, bill payments and account management.However, branch-dependent services including cheque processing, demand draft issuance and large cash transactions will not be available during non-working days. Customers with urgent requirements are advised to plan visits accordingly and complete necessary banking tasks in advance.With multiple holidays spread across the month and varying schedules between states, customers are encouraged to check their local bank holiday list before planning any branch visit during the week starting June 28.
