Mandi: The pre-monsoon flushing operations of 126 MW Larji Hydel started at 6 am Sunday. The flusing would end on Monday, officials said.During the flushing, the silt accumulated in the dam would be flushed out into the Beas river, they said.According to Superintending Engineer of Sarabai circle of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB), Narinder Thakur under whose jurisdiction the Larji Dam falls, a pre-monsoon flushing started early morning on Sunday and it will take around 24 hours to put the power house to resume power generation.Read More: Ladakh fines Rs 2 lakh penalty on four tourists for illegal off-roading in protected areasAll five gates of the dam will be opened in controlled manner and generation of electricity will be halted as the water will be not allowed to enter in to the power house, he told PTI.Security measures are in place as around 2000 cusec water are released into the river, he said, adding that Pre monsoon flushing is an essential part of smooth electrical generations.The water level of beas river downstream from Larji to Pandoh, a 10 km long stretch, will rise. After that, the filling water in the reservoir will be resumed so that all the three generators could start generating electricity, he said.
