What happens when you stop rushing and choose to move through the world at just 4 kilometres an hour?

For Lithuanian travellers Dovilė Petkevičiūtė and Julius Masilionis, the answer is unfolding one step at a time as they walk the length of Japan, a journey that has already taken them more than 1,000 kilometres across the country.

Their trek is more than a physical challenge. It is an experiment in slowing down, embracing uncertainty and rediscovering life’s simplest pleasures.

After spending five months last year hiking across the United States from the Mexican border to Canada, traversing some of North America’s highest mountain ranges, the couple decided not to wait long before embarking on another ambitious adventure.

This time, they set their sights on Japan, aiming to walk from the country’s southern reaches to its northernmost regions.
