Germany hit a record 41.5C on Saturday, provisional data from the national weather service (DWD) showed, marking a new all-time high.

The reading was recorded at the Drewitz station in eastern Germany, a DWD spokesperson told AFP, breaking the previous record of 41.3C set just a day earlier in Saarbruecken in the southwest.
