The founders of Geethananda Foundation, Anand C. Kunder and his wife Geeta Kunder, donated operation theatre equipment worth ₹5,01,648 to the Government Mother and Child Hospital in Udupi.The hospital administration felicitated the donors on its premises on Friday.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kunder said he had always intended to contribute to health, education, and environment sectors.Stating that he shies away from publicity, Mr. Kunder said he preferred helping others with whatever resources he had. Every year, the foundation provides free notebooks, uniforms, and scholarships to students in government schools and those from economically weaker sections. It also distributes free saplings to schools to promote environmental conservation and encourage children to develop a love for nature.Sandeep, administrative medical officer of the hospital, said the donated equipment had been of great benefit and would be put to proper use.H. Ashok, District Surgeon, said that when doctors recently informed Mr. Kunder about the need for operation theatre equipment worth about ₹5 lakh, he immediately handed over a cheque for ₹5,01,648.Senior paediatricians Amarnath Shastri and Mahadev Bhat, gynaecologist Shashank Kini and others were present.
