The US Embassy in Apia hosted “Freedom 250” on 25 June, marking 250 years of American independence and 65 years of the Peace Corps while also honouring departing Chargé d’Affaires Daniel Tarapacki.

Held at the official residence in Vailima, the event brought together more than 400 guests. It celebrated US history and the close relationship between the United States and Samoa.

During the occasion, Tarapacki reflected on his time in Samoa and highlighted cooperation between the two countries in health, education, infrastructure, maritime security, law enforcement, and trade.

“Tonight, as we celebrate Freedom 250, I look back at what we have built together with pride,” he said.

“The partnership between the United States and Samoa is stronger than ever.”
