Irregularities have occurred because the government chose to repay confidence in their party workers and appointed them as President and Members of Guarantee Schemes Implementation committees, instead of reposing confidence in the officials, Mr. Kumpala said.In light of irregularities in payment of monetary assistance to woman head of the family under Gruha Lakshmi scheme, the State Government should recover remuneration paid to President and members of Guarantee Schemes Implementation, in addition to recovery of the amount from the beneficiaries, said District BJP President Satish Kumpala in Mangaluru on Saturday (June 27, 2026).Talking to reporters, Mr. Kumpala said irregularities, including payment of monetary assistance to ‘Ghost’ beneficiaries, has been flagged by Comptroller and Auditor General of India. Irregularities have occurred because the government chose to repay confidence in their party workers and appointed them as President and Members of Guarantee Schemes Implementation committees at the State, District and Taluk levels, instead of reposing confidence in the officials.Though there was irregularity in payment of ₹2,000 to the beneficiaries every month, there was no break in payment of monthly remuneration to President and members of the committees. When taxpayers money has been paid to the members of the committees, it is their responsibility to ensure the money under the guarantee schemes rightly reach the beneficiaries. In light of irregularity in payment of money to Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries, government should remove the committee members by holding them responsible for the irregularity and recover remuneration paid to them so far. This should be in addition to recovery of amount from the beneficiaries.Mr. Kumpala said monthly assistance has got credited to the account of 2.11 lakh ‘ghost’ Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries in the state. In Dakshina Kannada, ₹3.34 crore has been paid to 3477 ‘ghost’ beneficiaries. The President and Members of Guarantee Scheme Implementation committees in Dakshina Kannada, instead of taking action now to recover the paid amount, should have taken caution in identifying beneficiaries and then initiate payment of monthly assistance, the District BJP chief said.
