Former City defender and Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills has weighed in on the club’s reported pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, suggesting the young Englishman’s arrival could threaten Rodri’s place in the starting lineup.
The Anderson question
Anderson has emerged as a primary target for City ahead of the summer 2026 transfer window. Speculative transfer fees have ranged wildly, from £60-70 million at the conservative end to north of £100 million, with one estimate ballooning to $153 million.
Mills has stated that Anderson is “way off” being among the world’s elite midfielders. Rodri has just one year remaining on his contract at City, which in transfer economics means the club’s leverage is evaporating by the week.
Complementary or competitive?
