ALBAWABA - Hopes raised by the latest understanding between the U.S. and Iran seem to have dissipated as the two warring nations conduct strikers on each other again - just a week after signing the Memorandum of ‘Understanding’The attacks started when a Singaporean vessel was struck while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz; the vessel, dubbed Ever Lovely, was passing the Strait - the IRGC were saying that all ships must ask permission from them if they want to pass. For this reason or another, the IRGC struck the Singaporean vessel while it was crossing, earning strong condemnation from Singapore and the U.S.In a swift response, the U.S. struck military sites in Iran, which offended Iran who in turn struck U.S. military sites in the gulf - this exchange has become routine for countries in the region; as the same exact thing, more or less, has happened again and again between the U.S.-Israel-Iran trio.🚨 BREAKING: Iran’s IRGC says it has struck U.S. military positions in the region after today’s U.S. airstrikes on Iranian targets. The escalation began after Iran attacked a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz. pic.twitter.com/yaWVpvtJnn— Crypto Rover (@cryptorover) June 27, 2026 The U.S. said that the attacks were a response to “unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces” that “clearly violated the ceasefire”. With Trump adding: “obviously, this is a foolish violation of our ceasefire agreement.” And JD Vance threatened that “violence will be met with violence”.While on the Iranian side, they saw a ship passing the strait, seemingly without permission, and struck it. And as the U.S. strikes came in response - that was claimed by the IRGC as a ceasefire violation, which led Iran to respond to the attacks by attacking U.S. sites in the gulf and threatening: “If the aggression is repeated, our response will be broader than this,"Will this be the disintegration of the MoU and the slow and painful peace process or is there still hope for the two sides to overcome this exchange as Trump once said in a peace conference: “I’d say in that part of the world a ceasefire is when you’re shooting in a more moderate manner.”
