Four Greek American Republican members of Congress have publicly voiced their opposition to the proposed sale of US-made F110 fighter engines to Turkey, warning that Ankara’s conduct continues to undermine stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and arguing that it should not be allowed to re-enter the F-35 program unless it fully complies with US law.

Representatives Gus Bilirakis, Nicole Malliotakis, Mike Haridopolos and Jimmy Patronis issued a joint statement expressing what they described as “deep concern” over reports that the Trump administration intends to move forward with the proposed military sale.

“As Greek American Members of Congress, we are deeply concerned regarding reports of a proposed military sale of jet engines to Turkey,” the lawmakers said.

They argue that Turkey remains a destabilizing force in the region through its expansive and disputed maritime claims, its continued illegal occupation of northern Cyprus, and its increasingly hostile rhetoric toward Israel.

According to the statement, the Eastern Mediterranean has the potential to become “a beacon of commercial opportunity, energy cooperation, and regional security,” an objective that the four lawmakers said they have consistently supported through legislation and congressional engagement.
