Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala has pleaded guilty to fraud, corruption and money laundering, but his proposed plea deal still requires court approval
After admitting to fraud, corruption and money laundering, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala now faces another crucial hurdle — convincing the court that his plea and sentencing agreement is in the interests of justice.
While the self-confessed fraudster has agreed to become a state witness against his co-accused, a Pretoria magistrate has yet to decide whether the proposed deal, which could see him serve an effective eight years in prison, is fair.
Matlala pleaded guilty to fraud, corruption, and money laundering in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.
He agreed to turn state's witness against his co-accused.
