US President Donald Trump has accused Tehran of a “foolish violation” of the Ceasefire Agreement in a Truth Social post as US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed renewed strikes against Iran.
In a statement on X, CENTCOM said US forces conducted the strikes in a “powerful response” to Iran’s attack a day earlier on a Singapore-flagged commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In the most significant test yet on the interim understanding reached a week ago by the two countries, US aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.
The US claimed the strikes were in retaliation after Iran hit Singapore’s M/V Ever Lovely with a one-way attack drone.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz. One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship,” Trump said on his social media platform.
