The US struck Iran on Friday in response to a drone attack a day earlier on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, a provocation President Donald Trump said violated the ceasefire between the two countries.US Central Command said the military struck missile and drone sites, as well as coastal radar locations in Iran, shortly after Trump hinted at retaliation when asked whether Tehran would face consequences.“We’ll find out,” Trump told reporters. Asked whether he still considered the ceasefire to be in place, he said: “I don’t like the fact that they took a shot yesterday … They shouldn’t be doing that.”Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said in response to the attack that its retaliation would be “swift and decisive”, according to Iranian state TV.The US president had earlier blamed Iran for the attack, writing on social media that Tehran had “shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz”, with one hitting the upper deck of a cargo ship.“We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement,” he said.
