American soccer fans looking for U.S. men’s national team jerseys to purchase as the team prepares for the World Cup knockout stage may soon be running short of options as U.S. retailers have a dwindling supply to offer. Some of the most popular online retailers for USMNT merchandise — Dick’s Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Soccer.com and the official U.S. Soccer store — are all showing limited availability of the jerseys, made by Nike, particularly for the popular red-striped home shirt. One sportswear retail company executive told The Athletic that supply could run out as soon as the next few days.“(Nike has) been told by countless retailers you need to make more jerseys way before these events happen and they just don’t do it. They just ignore it,” said the source, who requested anonymity in order to speak candidly about the situation. As of Friday morning on Nike’s own website, the home USMNT jersey is only available in some player-specific versions, with limited sizing in both youth and adult options, while the away shirt is sold out in adult sizes yet available in some youth sizes. Dick’s Sporting Goods has limited sizes of Christian Pulisic’s and Weston McKennie’s home jerseys and some youth sizes of the away shirt. Fanatics has limited sizes in adult home jerseys and some youth away jerseys. Soccer.com only has the home and away jerseys in one size (small). The same is the case for U.S. Soccer’s web shop.
