MANILA, Philippines — There is no tsunami threat in any area after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit off the shore of Sarangani municipality in Davao Occidental on Friday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

“No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,” Phivolcs said in an advisory.
