Liverpool are moving toward a formal offer for Andrei Rațiu, the 28-year-old Romanian international who has been one of La Liga’s more quietly impressive right-backs over the past two seasons at Rayo Vallecano.

Initial talks have been confirmed by Anfield Index and GiveMeSport, placing this firmly in the category of real pursuit rather than agent noise.

The numbers behind the deal

Rațiu’s contract at Rayo Vallecano runs until 2030, meaning the Spanish club holds significant leverage. He signed a five-year deal when he joined in August 2023, so there is no immediate pressure on the player or the club to sell.

The reported release clause sits at €25 million. Liverpool would prefer not to pay the full amount. Reports suggest the Reds are hoping to negotiate something closer to €20 million, roughly £17 million at current exchange rates.
