Tabby, a buy now, pay later platform, mistakenly told customers they had won a $1,360 Emirates flight voucher before retracting the offer.
The error caused customers to submit personal data, including Emirates ID details, which the company said would be deleted and not used.
A review has been launched to determine how the erroneous email was sent, with additional controls implemented to prevent recurrence.
Dubai resident Rob Scott, 38, received the winning email at 10.30am, only to receive a retraction just over an hour later.
