Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated that the tension in relations between Ukraine and Poland is a serious mistake and emphasized that disputes between the neighboring countries could pose political and economic risks.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, he made these remarks during an open discussion with students at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

“The situation with Poland is a classic case of diplomatic tension. It’s not a conflict; it’s a disagreement—let’s put it that way. This isn’t the peak yet; believe me, it will escalate further, as they say, if everyone doesn’t back off a bit,” he said.

At the same time, when asked to assess the situation with Poland, Budanov said: “I view this very negatively; I view it as a mistake—and a terrible one at that.”

The head of the Office of the President emphasized the need to maintain good or neutral relations with neighbors. He added that tensions with neighbors always lead to serious problems—ranging from political to economic.
