This month, I got the keys to my first home – and I’m still in disbelief even though I have known this moment has been coming for the past six months.
Before New Year’s Day this year, buying a home wasn’t even on my radar. It’s not that I didn’t want to have my own place, it’s just that I didn’t really think I could afford to.
At the time, I had around £25,000 split between two ISA accounts, just sat there waiting to be spent.

I was quite strict with myself and never dipped into it, even for emergencies.
