RIYADH: Riyadh Region Mayor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike held virtual talks on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in digital transformation and smart city development.

The meeting, attended by Saudi and Japanese officials, focused on digital transformation and its applications in urban management, as well as developments in smart cities, artificial intelligence and data-driven municipal services.

The two sides discussed the opportunities and challenges presented by digital transformation and its role in enhancing public services, improving the efficiency of city management and supporting sustainable urban development.

They also explored ways to exchange technical expertise and benefit from international best practices in developing municipal services, improving quality of life and leveraging advanced technologies to optimize city operations and better serve residents.

Prince Faisal and Koike underscored the importance of maintaining communication between their respective teams and identifying opportunities for future cooperation to strengthen ties between Riyadh and Tokyo while promoting knowledge sharing between the two capitals.
