The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has issued social media guidelines for students, residents and employees, stating that they cannot use the institute’s name, logo, emblem or any official branding without prior written approval.The guidelines state that social media handles suggesting official representation, as well as videos, reels or blogs using AIIMS branding for promotional purposes, are unauthorised.“Never post, share or discuss any patient information, images or case details on social media, even if the patient is not identified,” the guidelines say.They further state that student bodies or employees managing official content must register social media accounts with the concerned department. Accounts must clearly specify whether the content is student- or department-generated and not officially endorsed, unless stated otherwise.The guidelines also advise against posting political, religious or defamatory content.
