The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has temporarily halted the evacuation of ships through the Strait of Hormuz following an attack on a vessel in the Gulf of Oman that had recently transited the strategic waterway, AFP reported on Thursday.IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the suspension was intended to allow authorities to reassess security conditions and ensure adequate safety guarantees for vessels operating in the region."I have decided to temporarily pause the implementation of the evacuation plan to verify that the necessary safety assurances remain in place for ships on our evacuation list and for all vessels in the area," he said in a statement, according to AFP.
Hormuz evacuation suspended after attack in Gulf of Oman: Maritime group
Following a recent attack on a ship in the Gulf of Oman, the International Maritime Organization has temporarily suspended evacuations through the Strait of Hormuz. This pause allows authorities to thoroughly re-evaluate security measures and confirm that essential safety assurances are in place for all vessels navigating this critical maritime route. The decision aims to ensure the well-being of ships on the evacuation list and the broader maritime community.
