The presenter joined Roman Kemp on the programme on Thursday, June 25.‌After welcoming Ben Fogle, Kate Humble and Martin Clunes to the show, just moments before it ended, Alex shared an update. She confirmed that Friday’s BBC episode would be the last for a while, as The One Show is set to undergo a summer break.‌Confirming the shake-up, Alex and Roman concluded the show with the announcement. Roman shared: “That’s all we’ve got time for tonight, a big thank you to all of our guests.”‌Alex added: “Tomorrow I’ll be back with JB for the final One Show before our summer break. We’ll be joined by Alexander Armstrong and Annabel Croft, plus Gavin and Stacey stars Joanna Page and Mathew Horne.”“Have a great night,” Roman signed off. The One Show usually goes on a break for around four weeks during late June and early July.‌Elsewhere on the programme on Thursday night, Roman rushed to issue an apology when Martin dropped an expletive.The show was thrown into chaos as the Doc Martin star discussed the American adaptation of his beloved show, featuring Josh Charles in the leading role.‌After a preview clip of it aired, Martin spoke about Josh’s interpretation of the ITV role he held from 2004.He shared: "He's completely done his own thing, much nicer than me, less awkward and abrasive... he's warm and better-looking."He then responded to a scene he saw in the preview, when he dropped a swear word on live TV, shocking the hosts.‌Martin said: "I was just looking at that bit... they wouldn't let me call the dog the son of a b***h, which I thought was funny."As the hosts, guests and studio burst into laughter, Roman hurried to apologise, declaring: "I have to apologise quickly."Article continues belowAlex playfully told Martin off, quipping: "You've been on a hundred times!"The actor attempted to defend himself, turning to Ben and saying: “He’s a vet… it’s a female dog!”The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
