The Chicago Cubs struck early in this year’s Major League Baseball trading season.
The Cubs have acquired starting left-handed pitcher, David Peterson, 30, from the New York Mets in exchange for prospect first baseman/designated hitter, Cole Mathis.
Acquiring a veteran starting pitcher was viewed as a huge priority for the Cubs, as they are currently playing with starting pitchers Matthew Boyd (knee surgery) Ben Brown (strained neck) Edward Cabrera (strained hamstring) Cade Horton (Tommy John surgery) Justin Steele (elbow surgery) and Jameson Taillon (strained hamstring) on the MLB Injured List.
